# Billing setup

# Billing Setup

Offboard charges **\$0.99 per completed interview**, invoiced monthly in arrears. You are never charged for abandoned or saved interviews.

## Signup order

New accounts collect a payment method **before** onboarding:

login → magic link → /onboarding/billing → /onboarding → /dashboard
```

1. Verify your email via the magic link.
2. You land on the billing gate (`/onboarding/billing`) — click **Add card & continue** to open the Polar checkout.
3. After checkout you return to the gate, which confirms your subscription and forwards you to onboarding.
4. Finish onboarding to reach the dashboard.

A shell workspace is created behind the scenes so the checkout can attach to your account — finishing onboarding fills it in. If payment confirmation takes a few seconds, the gate keeps checking and advances automatically.

## Managing billing later

Manage your subscription anytime in **Dashboard → Settings → Billing**:

* View subscription status and current period end
* Update or change your payment method via the Polar customer portal
* Re-subscribe after a cancellation — you'll be routed through the billing gate and land back on the dashboard

## When you are billed

Billing is triggered only when an interview:

* Reaches a minimum of 3 AI turns, **and**
* The user explicitly ends the session

Interviews with status `abandoned` or `saved` are never billed.
